The band with my favorite acronym (MOMS) are coming to DC! And they're playing at Comet Ping Pong, one of my favorite places in the DC area. So you should come, eat some pizza, drink some booze, maybe squeeze in some ping pong before they turn that area into a stage and then watch Brooklyn-based orchestral rock quintet Miracles of Modern Science with me.
It seems their new work is more serious/urgent than their previous work when I saw them years ago in Brooklyn - their songs used to have science, sci-fi, and sometimes even comedic themes laid over beautiful orchestral pop. Now it seems the themes of their lyrics are all grown up: self-doubt, anxiety over the future, etc. But the lovely string arrangements remain! And they still aren't afraid to put a little comedy into their music, as evidenced in their song Swipe, a song about dating on Tinder.
So, long story short: be there. It will be fun.
