Bloomsbury

Happy Independence Day! Hard to believe summer is already 1/3rd over... But don't be sad! I have good music to cheer you up! Princeton's upcoming EP, "Bloomsbury" is the perfect soundtrack for summer. It's poppy yet laid back, and it has a retro feeling to it that reminds me of The Beatles (particularly the vocals). I guess the only negative thing about it is that there are only four songs on it, and I wish there were more because you can't very well make a soundtrack out of four songs.

Princeton is a three-man band based in Los Angeles. Apparently every song on the EP is "lyrically focused upon a member of the influential Bloomsbury intellectual collective that existed in London during the early 20th century" (Leonard Woolf, Lytton Strachey, Virginia Woolf and John Maynard Keynes). Huh. Interesting. I never would’ve guessed...

"Bloomsbury" comes out on July 7th (next Tuesday), but you can pre-order it from their myspace now if you're so inclined. You can also listen to the whole EP there. And for those of you in the Los Angeles area, they're having a CD release party at The Silverlake Lounge on Tuesday night.
