Boy & Bear

As of writing this post, Boy & Bear only appear on Hype Machine 7 times. It would seem this band are flying well under the radar. They certainly flew into London under the radar for their gig the other week, and I, as you will be after listening to Mexican Mavis, was kicking myself for missing them.
Aside from the slightly infuriating opening harmonisation a la Fleet Foxes, this track is one that I have been listening to on repeat for the last week. It’s basically made of win, and includes the core elements which make for a Keith friendly song with a great guitar hook, some ‘whoo whoo’s’ and succinct drum fills in the chorus, adding, rather than owning the song. With Mumford & Sons making waves in the mainstream last year, 2011 should be the year for act’s like Boy & Bear and Matthew & the Atlas to gain the broad appeal and adulation they deserve.
